We've been tracking the energy savings that is accumulated on a monthly basis by 18 of our featured customers. These customers have requested monitors on their systems and from those we're able to collect the data to keep an eye the savings and share the information with you! Included in the profiled customers are the Victoria General Hospital, the Langley Fine Arts School, Delta Secondary School and Colwood Fire Hall. The picture below shows the total energy savings as of the end of August in terms of KWhs, coal, car emissions and more…

So what does it mean?

To break it down let's compare average consumption stats on the savings listed above:

– An average, two-story, three bedroom house uses 1500 kWhs a month, meaning we've saved enough energy to date to power a house for almost 10 years.

-1 kg of coal generates about 2.75 kWh of electricity, which means we've generated approximately 73,395 kWh of coal free electricity.

– An average car emits around 340 kg of CO2 a month, which means the GHG emissions from the installations we've done is enough to take almost 8 cars off the road for one year.

– 1 kWh is equivalent to 2.3 lbs of carbon offsets so our total pounds of carbon offsets is: 273, 877. As one mature tree (in the tropics) offsets 50 lbs of carbon offsets a year then we’ve produced the equivalent of 5477.5 trees!

high-five
