Solar Colwood incentives are currently doubling up with Livesmart BC incentives for homeowners looking to install electric vehicle charging stations or combination charging stations and PV systems on residential homes. The Livesmart BC incentives won't be available after March 31 of this year, so now is the time to make the most of them! Below is the process to be followed for homeowners wishing to access LiveSmart BC (LSBC) and Solar Colwood rebates for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. We can help guide you through the steps, so contact us for more information.

Electric Vehicle Charging at Home

LSBC provides a rebate of $500 towards the cost of installing Level 2 (240 V) charging infrastructure at their homes.

In addition, Colwood homeowners (and renters) who qualify for the LSBC rebate can get additional Solar Colwood rebates for installing Level 2 charging through these three levels:

A: Level 2 charging

B: Level 2 charging (smart grid ready)

C: Level 2 charging (photo voltaic or PV powered. * If a homeowner chooses to install an EV/PV combination system, they can also access Livesmart BC's net-metering grant.)

There is NO requirement for a home energy assessment to get LSBC or Solar Colwood grants for EV charging stations. This also means that even if a homeowner has already completed an LSBC home energy assessment, they can still apply for LSBC and Solar Colwood EV charging rebates.

EV Charging Rebate Process

1.       Homeowner purchases (or leases) eligible EV.

2.       Homeowner gets quotes from installer to get a LSBC qualifying Level 2 EV charging unit installed (options A, B or C above) and selects an EV charging station installer.

3.       The installer requests a tracking number from Solar Colwood to reserve the discount from the limited funding available.

4.       Solar Colwood provides a tracking number within a day.

5.       Installation is completed.

6.       Homeowner applies for rebate from LiveSmart BC.

The Application must be submitted to LiveSmart BC within 90 days of the EV charging station purchase and before March 31, 2013 in order to qualify for the rebate.

7.       The homeowner receives the LSBC rebate cheque and keeps the cheque stub.

8.       The installer and homeowner complete the Solar Colwood Electric Vehicle Charging Station Rebate Claim Form (attached) and the homeowner signs.

9.       The installer sends paperwork to Solar Colwood.

10.     Homeowner pays the installer for the system less the Solar Colwood rebate.

11.     Solar Colwood pays installer the Solar Colwood rebate.
